A chiropractic adjustment is done by applying a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust to a joint in order to increase the range of motion that the person would otherwise not be able to attain. The benefits are a decrease in pain, increase in motion, and muscle relaxation amongst other benefits. The adjustment may or may not result in a “popping” sound. The popping is simply the result of a change in pressure within the joint resulting in nitrogen gas being released (similar to when you crack your knuckles). Many people report feeling an overall improved mood after being adjusted.
